Mae hi'n boeth iawn heddiw...

Lots to catch up on from the last two weeks... From a torrential downpour where we lost power several times...




...we now find ourselves in the midst of a heatwave! The heat and the sun are making everything grow like mad...


(Yes, the birds beat me to the cherries YET AGAIN!)




...and we are finally starting to eat the fruits of our labours -- quite literally!






Last but not least -- there will be lots of exciting news later today -- can you tell what this is a picture of? :)

Pedwaredd mis Gorffennaf Hapus!

I now understand why farmers tie their hurdles together with baling twine despite the fact that they latch together... The large ram lamb developed a limp yesterday morning, so I went up to try to catch him to have a look at his feet. Mind, tomorrow will be three weeks now that we've had these sheep and we still haven't got close enough to touch them! I got the ram lamb and two ewes in the pen and closed the end of the hurdles and they carried on eating their treat happily -- until I stepped into the pen. Wow... Will try it again this afternoon after I've tied the hurdles to each other a bit more securely...


Things are, as ever, growing like mad, particularly the weeds of course!


Janet thinks this is a Dog Rose (rosa canina) -- can anybody confirm or deny this? It has next to no smell but a lovely colour!




For our fourth anniversary the other week (fruit and flowers), Greg gave me these two coffee plants! Fingers crossed, several years from now I might be able to drink a cup of coffee I grew!!! :)


Also a couple of weeks ago, we had a lovely time at Cwmdu fete. If anybody is feeling like they have too much money and don't know what to do with it, feel free to buy me this car! :)


Highlight of the afternoon was Meirion Owen and his Quack Pack -- I have got a video of this as well which I might upload later if I have time.


I didn't win the longest nettle competition, but I tried!

In other news, this afternoon I am going on a shearing course run by the British Wool Marketing Board -- will let you know how I get on!

Newyddion Defaid

The sheep are doing well -- we are gradually getting closer to them -- they no longer run when they see us coming! We have been working on tempting them with sugar beet pellets in a vague attempt to get them to come to the gate when we rattle the bucket... :)

I know they have been a long time coming and you are probably all sick to death of me saying we are getting sheep soon -- they are here!




We bought these Balwen last night and they are now happily munching about in the top field getting used to their new home. There are four ewes and their lambs (two ewe lambs and two ram lambs). If you've had enough of the endless chicken photos, now there will be a bit more variety! :)

In other news, things have been growing like mad here -- the first picture here is the tomatoes a week ago and the second picture is from yesterday. We went away last weekend and were amazed when we got back how big everything was!






The beans have also been growing like wild:

My friend Paul is helping me learn how to make wine -- the two bottles in the front are rhubarb wine that we've made from rhubarb from Greg's parents' garden.

This last is rather old news but it's been ages since I posted here, so... The birds that were nesting in the clematis have finally flown off, and unfortunately Shiva got one (cath drwg!) but I think the rest are off safely now. These photos were taken in the last few days before that... My, what a big mouth you have! :)
